MYSTERY MAN 2.40
MINS INTO VIDEO AT BOTTOM OF PAGE |
A mystery man
seen in a photo of Madeleine McCann playing with her father
and siblings has been questioned by police.
Early in the
investigation into the four-year-old's disappearance, the
bald man was also seen walking behind former suspect Robert
Murat, according to a report in The Sunday
Tasmanian.
Portugese
police confirmed the man had been identified and
interviewed, and said they would continuing to formally
interview anyone who had anything to do with the McCanns
during their time in Portugal.
Investigators
refused say how or why the man had been spotted on different
occasions near the McCanns.
Madeleine was
last seen on May 3. Her parents returned from a dinner at a
restaurant near to where the family were staying in Praia da
Luz on the Portugal's southern coast, to find she had
vanished.
Following
reports yesterday that Portuguese police believe Madeleine's
body was dumped in the sea, the girl's mother, Kate McCann,
could soon be re-interviewed in the case.
The
Tasmanian reports Kate McCann could be confronted again
on the orders of a judge as the police "struggle to gather
enough evidence to charge her".
Kate McCann is
expected to be ordered back to Portugal by judge Pedro dos
Anjos Frias to be interviewed on the suspicion that she
accidentally killed her daughter and then covered up the
death with her husband.
The McCanns
have professed their innocence since being named as suspects
in the case.
Kate and Gerry
McCann have been outspoken in their belief that the
Portuguese police are trying to "frame" them. |
