Madeleine McCann
In similarity to what happens with all
missing children's cases, despite the
formal archiving of the inquiry into her
disappearance, and as has always been
publicly stated, the Judiciary Police
remained attentive to all and every
information that might lead to knowing
the whereabouts of the minor Madeleine
McCann, the circumstances under which
her disappearance happened and the
identity of its author(s).
With that purpose, through the Judiciary
Police's National Director, in March
2011, a team of investigators at the
Northern Directory was given the mission
to reanalyse the vast set of information
that is contained in the inquiry, with
the purpose of identifying those whose
in-depth analysis would be useful and
possible.
That reanalysis work, which took place
during the last two and a half years,
allowed for new indications to be known,
which, imposing the continuation of the
investigation, fulfill the requisites
that are established by article 279,
number 1, of the Penal Process Code for
the reopening of the inquiry.
Thus the proposition was made to His
Excellency the Republic's Prosecutor of
Portimão, and was deferred.
