Correio
da Manha's headline today tells of the departure of 31 'historical'
inspectors from the Policia Judiciaria, who according to the paper are
'disillusioned with Justice and unhappy with recent budget cuts'.
According to Correo da Manha, amongst the losses are Jose Braz, director
of the Lisbon PJ, Calado Oliveira, PJ coordinator distinguished for his
exclusive work on the Freeport case and
Paulo Rebelo,
from the Faro PJ, responsible for the
Maddie
case after the departure of
Goncalo Amaral. The paper writes that
some of the most highly qualified officers of the PJ are saying that to
belong to the police 'is almost an embarrassment that we have to hide
from the neighbours'.
