12th September in Lisbon Civil Court n°
1.
The trial will involve at least 3 court
sessions.
Gonçalo Amaral, according to a defence
source, “understands the sense of loss
the McCann’s may have, but as an
investigator he cannot resign from all
of the lines of the investigation”.
Upon being informed about the new
inquiries by the English authorities,
Gonçalo Amaral
Said that he was “available for any
information Scotland Yard might need in
relation to the case he participated in
during 2007” according to the ex –
inspector’s source.
The same source “finds it very strange
that the English investigators do not
want to question the former head of the
investigation”, because “the result of
the investigation was determined by the
Public Ministry and not by the
investigator.
“Furthermore, how is it possible that
someone would request more than 1
million euros in damages from the person
responsible for the PJ investigation,
whilst all the elements gathered during
the investigation – as well as the logic
of the investigations into cases of
alleged abduction – point to the girl
being dead?”, asks the lawyer
responsible for the former Portuguese
officer.
The English girl has been under the
guardianship of the UK High Court since
2007, which might explain the current
interest of the English authorities for
the opening of a court case in London. |
