THE parents of missing Madeleine McCann told yesterday of their fresh
hope for their daughter.
Kate and Gerry also spoke of their "mixed emotions" in a Christmas
message thanking wellwishers.
The couple wrote on their findmadeleine.com website: "The year has ended
on a positive note.
"Our search for Madeleine and the Metropolitan Police review of the case
are progressing well."
They had "renewed energy and continued hope" and posted a jigsaw picture
of their daughter along with the question: "Do you hold the missing
piece of the puzzle?"
Madeleine was nearly four when she vanished on a family holiday in Praia
da Luz, Portugal, in May 2007.
PM David Cameron has asked Scotland Yard to review the case due to its
"exceptional" nature.
Doctors Kate and Gerry, both 43, of Rothley, Leics, wrote: "It's
Christmas — again.
"A time of mixed emotions for our family and many others in similar
positions around the world. A time to hold together.
"Thank you to all our supporters for your help throughout the year and
for remaining united with us in our longing and determination to find
Madeleine."
They also praised the launch of a Government strategy aimed at helping
the families of missing people.
