A Daily Express reporter has told the Leveson Inquiry into media ethics
that his editor was only interested in the Madeleine McCann story
because it sold newspapers.
Nigel Fagge, who was one of the journalists at the Daily Express
covering the disappearance of Madeleine gave evidence today along with
two other reporters.
The paper's coverage of the story led the McCanns to take legal action,
and it was forced to apologise and pay a substantial sum.
Counsel for the Inquiry, Robert Jay, asked Mr Fagge if he was surprised
by the legal action and the subsequent pay out |
