Second Sunday (YEAR A)

 

Sunday Masses:

Wednesday Exposition. We continue to pray for Madeleine McCann and for all missing children throughout the world. There are details of a petition for a case review in the porch .

This Sunday Fr Jimmy Smale C.Ss.R. will be making the Mission Appeal for the Redemptorist communities in Zimbabwe. Fr Jimmy travels the country appealing for the Redemptorists and it is the parish's turn in the National Cycle.

There will be a fundraiser for Zimbabwe on Saturday 29th January 2011 at 7.30pm organised by the One World Group. Fr Desmond is very grateful to the One World Group for organising this event. Tickets '15 to include Chinese buffet and Cabaret singer. Tickets on sale after all Masses this weekend 15/16th January.  Tickets also available from the One World Group Secretary on 722 3680 or the parish office. Please hand in any unwanted Christmas Presents for a Raffle/Tombola to the parish office. All monies raised will go to the Mavambo Trust, a remarkable project run by Brother Benjamin           Posvo C.Ss.R., which supports and feeds 20,000 orphaned children.

Wednesday Exposition. Please sign the updated rota in the Sacristy if you can commit to a half hour during the day. There should be a minimum of two people before the Blessed Sacrament all day.

The Octave of Christian Unity runs from Tuesday 18th January?Tuesday 25th January. During the week there will be:

* The Ecumenical Chaplaincy Team at Liverpool Hope invitation to a 24 hour vigil of prayer and praise for Christian Unity. The day begins at 8.00am on Friday 21st January in Hope Chapel with a day-long sequence of worship from different traditions and an all-night vigil in Hope Chapel, for which you may need a sleeping bag and pillow. Please see full timetable in the porch. A member of the Chaplaincy team will speak at the end of the 10.00am Mass.

* Exchange of pulpits next Sunday 23rd January when we welcome our fellow Christians at the 11.30am Mass. Fr Desmond and two parishioners will be going to St Barnabas Church at 10.30am.

* United Service at Dovedale Baptist Church on Sunday 23rd January at 3.00pm. All welcome. Please see posters in the porch.

Monday 24th January there will be an extremely important parish meeting at 7.15pm in the Fisher-More Hall to discuss the proposed partnership of Bishop Eton and St Mary's in the Autumn of 2011. Fr Desmond urges as many parishioners as possible to come to this meeting. There will be a similar meeting in St Mary's Hall on Thursday 27th January at 7.15pm.

Baptismal Preparation Course for the parents  who have arranged this with Fr Desmond is on Tuesdays 18th & 25th January from 7.15pm to 8.30pm in the Hughes Meeting Room. Access via the car park.

A parents? meeting for First Holy Communion on Wednesday 26th January in the Fisher-More Hall at 7.45pm for all Year 3 children attending Our Lady?s, Bishop Eton and Carlton House; also children living in the parish and worshipping at Bishop Eton who do not attend these schools. 

Fisher-More Hall Cleaner. We are very fortunate to now have a cleaner for the Hall. However, Fr Desmond asks that all users of the Hall help the cleaner in the following ways:

* All group materials to be clearly marked and stored tidily.

* Hall to be left after use as clean and tidy as possible

* Chairs to be stacked in 3/4 along the side wall so that the stage can be hoovered regularly.

* All breakages to be reported to the parish office.

* Any items left out will be assumed to be rubbish and disposed of.

Mass Intention requests. Please give at least one month's notice for any Mass Intentions requested for particular dates. Please note that a Requiem Mass takes precedence over a specific Mass Intention.

The Archdiocesan Pastoral Formation Department is offering a series of six weekly meetings, Recovering and Moving on after Divorce. Groups are small and confidential. Meetings start on Monday 21st February from 7.30pm?9.00pm. For further details and bookings (essential) contact Frances on 727 2195
