McCann Friends Accuse Suspect Of Lying |

Details of a heated showdown between friends of Madeleine McCann's family and
suspect Robert Murat have emerged.
The Briton was accused of lying about his whereabouts when the girl disappeared
on May 3.
He was confronted with allegations he had been seen "peeking into"
the family's holiday apartment in Portugal on the night Madeleine was
abducted.
Murat - the "arguido", or only named suspect -
insists he was at home with his mother all night and did not know of the
disappearance until the following day.
His mother backed up his account.
Details of the confrontation, which happened earlier this month, have now
emerged.
One of the three friends allegedly shouted at him: "I know you were there.
I would recognise you anywhere."
It is reported all three had, in separate interviews, referred to Murat's
"lazy" right eye.
However, a friend of the 33-year-old said: "Robert found it traumatic.
"He couldn't understand how these people could sit there and accuse him of
lying."
Murat has been quizzed several times by the police, whose home is around 100
yards from the McCann's apartment. |
