MADELEINE McCann suspect Danilo Chemello changed after meeting his Portuguese girlfriend,
his estranged son revealed yesterday.
Chemello, 61, was held with Aurora Pereira Vaz, 54, last week after allegedly trying to extort
£2.4million from the fund for missing Madeleine, kidnapped in Portugal.
Chemello's son Andrea said from his home in Italy:
"When my father met her in the early 1990s he changed completely.
"She took hold of him. Since he met her he has been in and out of jails
across Europe."
Friends said Chemello was once worth £20million. But
Andrea added: "After he met Vaz he sold his
companies after she convinced him to do so.
"They travelled the world spending the money like water. We've not seen
him for 15 years." |
