COPS have discovered the body of a toddler in a drain close to where a
child went missing last week.
Aisling Symes, two, vanished from her grandparents' home in Henderson,
near Auckland, New Zealand, last Monday evening.
Officers searching for the tot revealed the grim discovery this morning
— but stressed the victim has yet to be identified.
They have also informed Aisling's heartbroken parents — who had received
messages of support from missing Madeleine McCann's parents Kate and
Gerry — of the find.
New Zealand Police said in a statement: "Clearly the team investigating
the disappearance of Aisling Symes is heavily involved in tonight's
events and staff from the investigation are with the Symes family
tonight.
"It's too early to know how long the child has been in the drain or how
it got there.
"The child has not been identified nor can we confirm what gender it is
at this stage."
