In the past few days, no reports with
regards 4-year-old Madeleine McCann were received by the Police. However, on
Saturday an anonymous person reported seeing the British girl on the 3rd June
2007 in Bouverie
Street in Gzira.
The report said the girl
resembling Madeleine was in a pushchair accompanied by a man described as thin
and with short hair. However, all Police efforts have all proved fruitless to
date.
The Police are continuing their
investigations on incoming reports, as well as keeping in touch with foreign
services also involved in the case.
Police have been investigating
Madeleine sightings since the 27th May when a Maltese national claimed the girl
was seen in Valletta
in the company of a man one week earlier.
Meanwhile, a few days ago the Portugese police said they are looking into a 'lead' given
by Spanish Antonio Toscano, who has described himself
as an investigator but who does not work for the police. BBC news reported that
Mr Toscano was questioned for two hours. Mr Toscano has claimed for weeks that before Madeleine's
disappearance a man called 'the Frenchman', involved in a European paedophile
ring, was overhead saying he was coming to the Algarve.
Mr Toscano
claims he is certain that this man had been involved in Madeleine's
disappearance and from knowledge of the man's methods,
he believed that the youngster was still alive. When he originally spoke to
police and the McCanns' spokesman by phone several weeks ago, he refused to
give details, BBC news reported.
Madeleine's parents, Kate and
Gerry have expressed themselves cautious of the sightings. They have been
searching for their daughter ever since she went missing from a holiday
apartment in Praia da Luz in the Algarve, Portugal on the 3rd May. It is
believed that she was kidnapped. |
