After a failed attempt to get elected as
Conservative MP for Brighton, Clarence
Mitchell - the long-serving spokesman
for the parents of Madeleine McCann - is
launching his own communications
consultancy.
The 54-year-old who dropped a plumb PR
job in government to support the McCanns
when their daughter went missing in the
Algarve said he is “happy to help anyone
who needs media assistance – families,
individuals and companies.” “It’s nice
being your own boss,” Mitchell added.
“It’s a bit of mix and match.” But he
“will continue to look after the
McCanns’ interests as and when needed”,
he stressed.
The news came on the day that the fund
in UK set up to help a former Portuguese
detective “fight” the McCanns is
reported to have reached a total of
€51,811. The legal defence for Gonçalo
Amaral is busy raising funds to help
Amaral’s legal battle over the
€500,000-plus awarded against him in
favour of Madeleine’s parents. (see:
