The event is one of the biggest in the racing calendar, with a global audience of millions across 140 countries.

Sky's Enda Brady said top jockeys have followed news on Madeleine's abduction closely.

The four-year-old was snatched on May 3 from her family's apartment during a break in the Algarve, Portugal.

Frankie Dettori told Sky News: "We are all fathers, I have five children myself and we are feeling for Madeleine's parents. What has happened is awful, it has been devastating for them.

"We just wanted to do something to help. The derby is watched by millions of people in many countries and hopefully this small gesture will help raise awareness. Our hearts go out to the McCanns."

Madeleine's parents Gerry and Kate are travelling across Europe to keep their daughter's disappearance in the public eye.

They met the Pope in Rome and visited Madrid last week.

Yellow ribbons have become a symbol of their struggle and are worn by supporters.
