Madeleine McCann's Evertonian grandfather has urged the fans not to let up on the search for the missing toddler - as pop star Robbie Williams showed his support for Maddie.

Four-year old Madeleine was snatched from a family apartment in Portugal more than 50 days ago but Brian Healy, from Liverpool, has stressed the need not to give up hope.

"This is the time of year when people travel all over the world and I would urge everyone to bear Maddy in mind, wherever they are," he said.

"We are still convinced that she is out there somewhere and that she will be found but we obviously need all the help we can get."

Music superstar Robbie Williams showed his public backing for the search when he wore a t-shirt at the Ricky Hatton fight in Las Vegas that showed Madeleine in her Everton top.

Mr Healy is a lifelong Evertonian and he thanked everyone for their efforts so far.

"It is a great help to the family to know that so many people are helping and praying," he said.

"All we can say is thank-you very much and keep looking. Followers of both Everton and Liverpool have been very supportive, as have both clubs, but the search will go on and will keep on until Maddy is found."
